Items & Artifacts

  • The Artifact Spiced Meatstick has been replaced by Belt of Life:

    • Effect: Whenever your Avatar heals, your units’ ATK and INT receive +15% for 15 seconds.

  • Dungeon shops will now correctly sell Artifacts.

    • Note: Banner of the Bloodthirsty and Belt of Power will not appear in shops. The other 28 Artifacts have a chance to be found in shops.

  • Fixed an issue where players could obtain Artifacts outside the intended Artifact list in dungeons.

  • Cursed Charm, Cursed Gemstone, Charm of the Lost Dood, and Charm of the Empty Eye now correctly discard the intended cards.

New Features

  • Added the Spirit Core system. Speak to Syfer in the Cradle to spend Soul Gems on enhancements and unlocks.

Systematic Changes

  • Avatars and Apostles will no longer automatically recover HP after battles in all difficulty levels.

  • All enemy Apostles will now use their skills regardless of difficulty level.

  • Enemy levels for each floor in every difficulty have been redesigned, resulting in a more balanced level distribution.

Drop Adjustments

  • Drops are now determined by the selected room:

  • Normal battle room: drops 1 Artifact

    • Normal battle room with quest: drops 1 Artifact + 1 Avatar Skill (Level 7)

    • Elite battle room: drops 1 Artifact + 1 Apostle

  • The Artifact pool has been redesigned. All difficulties now share the same 30 Artifacts (see list below).

  • All Artifact names have been updated to better match their effects.

  • Enemy Artifact pool has been redesigned, now containing only 8 effects. Enemies gain 1 Artifact at specific floors depending on difficulty:

    • Easy: Floor 7

    • Normal: Floors 6 & 12

  • The spark of luck fades — your units’ critical hit chance drops by -15%.

  • A dragging weight slows your troops, reducing movement speed by -15%.

  • The enemy surges with power, starting each fight with +50 energy.

  • Every enemy strike lands harder — their critical damage is increased by +25%.

  • As the clash begins, your units are slowed, losing -15% attack speed.

  • Enemy healing surges in strength, increasing their healing effectiveness by +3% (1 time).

Developer's Note

Earth C1: Rock N' Roll

  • Rock N' Roll used to be a staple low cost damage utility spell in wisdom builds. However, since the release of Fury we have seen it be outshined by the new Fury skills. We are buffing Rock N' Roll's INT scaling so that doods running wisdom decks will feel that this can compete with Fury builds.

Water C3: Tsunami Cannon

  • In a similar vein as Rock N' Roll, we are buffing Tsunami Cannon so that low cost damage wisdom skills can better compete with Fury. We are increasing the INT scaling of Tsunami Cannon as well as doubling the arrival damage of the Dreamcatcher. This change should incentivize players to run this skill in combo decks and reward players more for successfully landing combo CC chains with Tsunami Cannon

Fire C1: Seed of Fire

  • Seed of Fire has been a fun skill to use in builds due to its apostle clearing capabilities and healing. However, it's strengths currently do not make it viable in most builds when most builds prefer easier to land skills that guarantee damage value. We are increasing the size of its AoE, as well as increasing its damage over time. It's unique position as a low cost Apostle clear and sustain tool should be given more utility with this change

Fire C4: Curse of Darkfire

  • Curse of Darkfire is mainly used as an Avatar pressure tool and can be very effective in this role. However, its play rate has dropped significantly since its glory days. In previous metas we saw many builds focused around CC'ing the enemy Avatar while Curse of Darkfire was active. Buffing the INT scaling should enable more players to see Curse of Darkfire as a viable main damage source in control decks

Water C4: Armor of Ice

  • Fury water skills are mostly in a good place. Armor of Ice we felt was underperforming considering its unique position as a offensive shield tool with damage scaling. We are slightly increasing its wave damage and shield size which should incentivize players to run it in builds where you can be up in their face. Aggressive builds utilizing this skill should benefit from the extra shielding and AoE damage giving its user more confidence their HP will not be lost quickly when being in the thick of battle

Water C5: Avalanche

  • On release we saw this skill have some considerable usage by players, but once the meta solidified this skill quickly dropped out of usage. Primarily this is because Avalanche is a high mana cost skill which does not deliver guaranteed value as it can be difficult to land both waves. To alleviate this we are increasing its projectile speed and slow. This should help players land the initial hit and get more value from landing Avalanche.

Fire C2: Flamebloom Trap

  • Flamebloom Trap is one of the more unique skills when deck building. It was intended to feel like a trap that could turn the tides of a match if the enemy Avatar stepped onto it. This is not the case currently. To align this skill more with its intended vision we have tripled the invisibility duration, buffed its damage scaling, and reduced the time it takes to explode.

Developers Note

This will be the last balancing patch of this leaderboard. We are aware some skills that are not in this patch may need to be looked at, but we do not want to make too many changes before the leaderboard ends.

Earth C1: The Immovable Rock

  • EC1 was overperforming according to our metrics. Mainly its damage was too high for the amount of utility it provided given how accessible it is. The damage nerf should keep it more in line with other low C skills given its utility value.

Earth C5: Corrupted Claws

  • EC5 is currently one of the strongest skills in the meta for several reasons

    • The Corrupted Grounds provide extremely strong apostle clear + Avatar damage from the stacking rot + toxic application

    • Enemy Avatar is heavily disadvantaged when moving over the Corrupted Grounds due to the disabling of dash on top of the grounds + damage from rot and toxic

    • Amount of area covered by two Corrupted Grounds is quite large, and the duration at 10 seconds is substantial

    • Costs 3 mana

  • Given how strong it is while only costing 3 mana, we want to reduce the frustration element players experience playing against EC5. As a result we decided a duration nerf on both Corrupted Grounds was a good place to start.

  • With all of this being said, we don't want to kill the skill. We know that many players have been using it in their builds and we want to preserve its core strength. We will monitor EC5's performance post-nerf and see if it requires additional changes.

Water C2: Chilling Flail

  • WC2 is also one of the strongest skills in the meta. It boasts a win rate of just under 60%, making it the third highest win rate skill on the current patch. It also has one of the highest play rates of skills currently. WC2 being a strong skill in the meta is healthy for the game as it is one of the few skillshot skills in the game.

  • That being said, it's overperforming a bit too much currently. We are nerfing the amount of pullback distance when hooked, and reducing the amount of ATK speed + movement speed gained by landing WC2. This change should lessen the disadvantage of being hit by WC2 and the resulting follow up damage. We want to keep WC2 as a strong skill in the meta given it's unique mechanic and it should still be a strong skill in the meta.

Water C3: Revenant's Domain

  • Revenant's domain is also one of the premier skills in the current meta. A big reason for this is that players preferred to invest only 1 point into the base skill with all 3 upgrades. As a result players were getting a little too much utility from a relatively low point investment

    • To balance this utility to points investment we have redistributed the power of WC3's Dash Recharge % to higher levels

Water C6: Tidebreaker

  • Tidebreaker is one of the strongest skills in the meta. It boasts one of the highest play rates in addition to a 72% win rate. One of the biggest reasons for this is Tidebreaker's multi-faceted utility to gap close, clear the board, and be a significant Avatar threat

  • We have reduced Tidebreakers ATK Scaling, while also dealing bonus damage to Avatars which scales up at levels 6-8

    • This should help focus Tidebreaker's strength as an avatar focused damage skill while reducing its effectiveness as an apostle clearing tool

    • This change should bring some value to the higher levels of Tidebreaker to make the point investment feel worth it

Air C4: Thunderstrike

  • In the fury patch, we've noticed Air skills seem to be relatively weak compared to its counterparts in other elements. We want to give some love to the mid tier Air skills and Thunderstrike has potential to be a strong skill in the right builds. By lowering the detonation time and increasing the knock up duration of the Energy Crack we hope to reward the player more for landing a well placed Thunderstrike.

Earth C3: Spike Wheel Eruption

  • Since the introduction of Fury, we've noticed drops in the playrates of previously meta Wisdom skills. To encourage more diversity in the meta we have increased the projectile range of EC3. This change should help increase it's play rate in the current meta and give more options for wisdom players looking for an easy to access damage skill

Water C3: Tsunami Cannon + Air C3: The Storm Spear

  • We've heard the community feedback following the implementation of the 0.5 second cast time. These skills in particular were affected heavily as the function and value of these skills were severely impacted by the cast time introduction. We are rolling back the cast time on these skills so that they have a place in the meta.

Air C5: Gustwing Unbound

  • A classic community favorite, AC5 is getting a small buff to the healing on the return of the feathers. We want to encourage players to run this skill more as it creates a more unique meta having this skill in the mix. This buff should reward players for landing their feather return well.
