Greetings! For today’s blog post we’re happy to share with you our November 2022 Development Report, providing you with inside information about the current state of the game, what we’re working on, and how we see things going forward.
You can expect these Development Reports to be released on a monthly basis, roughly at the end of each month — although there will be a slight exception next month, when we’ll combine the December Development Report with an end of year retrospective.
In addition to these monthly reports, our very own Foonie Magus CEO and LoreKeeper Frank Cheng will be streaming the latest build of the demo for our NFT holders every week (on our Discord) to give our passionate community a sneak peek into the progress we are making and to see how everything comes together. One small caveat: he won’t ever show the final boss — some things in life have to be experienced firsthand >:]
We understand in the past we haven’t been as clear as we could be about how development has been going, so we hope these reports and LoreKeeper’s weekly streams give you more of an insight into how Apeiron is coming together. Rest assured that our team is hard at work to get the godiverse in your hands as fast as possible!
With that being said, let’s dive into the report!
State of the Demo
First order of business: the demo. We know that the Apeiron Dungeon Demo has been a long time coming. And our team has been committed to getting a playable version released as soon as possible. At the same time, our goal is to provide the best possible gameplay experience that we can, and we won’t put out something that doesn’t meet our high standards.
In fact, we had a playable version of the demo in early July. But after extensive internal testing, we found it didn’t satisfy our expectations. We thought — we knew — we could do better. And so we decided to do a comprehensive upgrade to the game design, backend tech, and artwork.
Specifically, we’ve had the following goals for our upgraded demo:
The demo should have the same polish and quality as can be expected from the full release version of the game.
Put systems in place to collect detailed community feedback, including data that can be used for future balancing.
Test cheating detection systems for PvE, in preparation for PvP.
Stress test our server infrastructure
Iterate and continue to improve gameplay
We are happy to report that progress has been proceeding apace on the new version and we are confident we can get it into your hands soon. Everything has come together with a high level of quality and at this point, it’s just around the corner. Bare with us for just a little bit longer!
In the meantime, let’s take a look at what the different teams are working on in detail:
Web3 Team
As you might imagine, it’s all hands on deck to support the backend development of the demo for our web3 team, such as implementing Battle Pass Smart Contracts. But that’s not all they’ve been doing! The team has also been rolling out improvements and updates to our official Marketplace, including Discord integration which will itself include game achievement functionality looking to the future.
Additionally, we’ve been working to support ERC1155 on the Marketplace so users can trade Astronomicals and Mini Blackholes (mBH). And last but certainly not least, we’ve been iterating on designs for how orbital tracks will work for Star NFTs in the Marketplace.
Art Team
Much like the web3 team, the art team has been all out on the demo. We have artists working on fine tuning skills and preparing all assets for internal testing, polishing battle scenes, animating boss skills and attacks, and drafting up the cinematics that will bring the story of the dungeon adventure to life. As we make the final push, the art team is, to put it mildly, very busy.
Game Development Team
The game development team is focused solely on getting the demo playable. What does this entail? There are many moving parts and components. Let’s first focus on what’s done: Avatar Skill Design, Apostle Skill Design, AI Behaviors, Data Structures, UI Framework AI Systems, Movement and Flocking, Unit Targeting Systems, the Deck, the Casting, the Energy and Mana, and Buffs and Debuffs are all ready to go.
Moving to what we’re working on right now, we’re taking a look at our Matching Server, the Game Data Server, Avatar Skill implementation, Apostle Skill implementation, UI Flow, Tutorial, Sound effects, API integration, Matching Server integration, and our dungeon’s in-game Shop.
Beyond that, into the home stretch, we need to work on cinematics and finalization of all elements.
…and that about sums up what everyone is working on!
TL;DR — We had a build of the demo in July but it didn’t meet our standards. So we’re making a better one! Everyone across the company is working to get it playable ASAP. It’s just around the corner now. Bare with us just a touch longer! Apeiron is coming~

About Apeiron
Apeiron is the world’s first NFT-based play-and-earn godgame. Apeiron will feature a unique card-based action-adventure combat system combined with god game simulation gameplay inspired by classic god games like Populous and Black & White. Players will be able to build up planets from above before descending to the ground as a powerful Avatar to solve the mysteries of the universe. Players will grow their planet to the point of developmental stagnation, then reset the planetary cycle via an Armageddon event to allow for even more advancement and thrilling late-game alliance level GvE and GvG activities. Apeiron will use a tri-token architecture, which means that there will be three separate tokens to navigate their ecosystem: a governance token, a play-to-earn token, and a premium alliance token.
