Ok, so now let’s switch gears and talk about the star of today’s post: the Shaman. The Shaman is a little bit different from the other Apostles. The other Apostles are all action all the time — Priests be pontificatin’, Hunters be huntin’, Guardians guardin’, Rogues stealin’, etc. The Shaman does spend a fair amount of time communing with the spirits. But also the Shaman will just like, chill out man, like sit back and smell the roses, you feel me? Relax. That is, until it’s time for combat…on the battlefield they energetically evoke the rituals needed to lay their foes to waste, while the other doods stare in slack-jawed bewilderment.

Why do these (mostly) chill doods decide to pick themselves up and follow you? Why is it worth the effort? Shamans have a reputation among the other doods for laziness. Yeah, the Shaman is tired. Yeah, sometimes maybe they chillax a little TOO much. But they want to uncover the mysteries of the universe alongside you, Godling. Ever since they were young they had the ability to conjure spells, and it made them curious. Why them? While the Mages resorted to their studies and learning, the Shamans trust their magical instincts, and their instincts have told them that YOU are on the right track.

In combat, Shamans take up their staffs and doff their majestic hats, symbols of their Shaman-ness, and act as backline supports. They have a few minor buffs and small heals to keep the group’s spirits up, but where they really shine is with their debuffs and status effects. The Shaman can call on the esoteric elements circling their enemies and afflict them with a variety of detrimental effects. Sudden Sleep can take an enemy out of a fight for a long duration or until they receive damage, which could completely lock down an enemy damage dealer. Creeping Poison, on the other hand, may seem innocuous at high life totals…but it will keep on ticking, and that’s when you can really put the squeeze on your opponent.

During downtime, the Shamans are taking some major chill pills, my doods. They can typically be found eating, sleeping, or communing with the elements — and the latter of those two are sometimes indistinguishable. They also encourage other Apostles to join them in getting some chillage. Bards, Priests, and Mages have no interest in wasting time like that, but Warriors and Guardians are into it. This can sometimes lead to chaos…especially when the Warriors oversleep and forget to cook dinner. Oopsie daisy!

So that’s like, all you need to know about the Shaman, Apeiron’s premier debuffer. Cool. Let’s dip on in on the requirements to pick up this good ol’ Apostle.
