Greetings everyone! And good news! Today we’re ready to share with you the Apeiron Development Report for February 2023. It’s been a busy month as our office kicks back into gear following Chinese New Year. Let’s check out what the various teams have been up to!
In this Development Report, we’ll be covering updates from the following teams:
-Web 3
-Game Development
-Game Design
-Art: 3D and Animations
-Art: 2D and Concepts
-Story/Lore
-Community
Off we go!
Web 3
Over the course of February, the Web3 team has been shooting for the Stars…by implementing the Star Orbiting feature on our Marketplace website! They have now finalized the smart contracts for Orbiting. Looking forward, they will be working on getting Orbital Track renting up and running.
On a slightly different tack, but also related to smart contracts, they have been putting everything in place so that Animus may be used for discounts related to Celestial Conjunction. You’ll be able to put that dungeon demo grinding to good use!
In addition to Orbital Track renting, in March the Web3-ers will also be working on the design and UI for how Apostle NFTs will be presented on our Marketplace. Similar to Planets, you’ll be able to browse all the different Apostles available with their unique equipment so you can purchase just the one you want for your adventures.
Game Development
The developers have had a dual focus this month. First, they successfully delivered patches 0.3.8 and 0.3.13 for Season 1 of the demo. Woo! That’s a whole lotta work in one short sentence. Our devs have also been collaborating with the game designers to start coding the finalized material for the phase 2 of the demo. In particular, they have been working on implementing the Artifacts, putting more Potions into the game, as well as getting all the Tempest Fury skills set up. And that’s just the start of what’s planned for phase 2! More on that in the below team reports.
Game Design
For this month, our game designers continued to finalize the scope and material for the phase 2 of the demo. This has involved three different projects in particular: (1) Artifacts, which will function to give players unique bonuses to play around during each dungeon run; (2) Dungeon Events, which will offer players stories and rewards to uncover; and (3) Apostle systems, which basically means working with the hard numbers of the Apostles’ level gain and stats to make sure the dungeon experience is exciting, fun, and of course, challenging. The designers have also been reviewing the deck and play card game rules as well as the concepts for galaxy design.
Moving into March, the team will keep on building up to the phase 2 demo, with dungeon level designs, finalizing Dungeon Event rewards and stories, enemy skills and combo usage, AI and skills for the new bosses, and additional content for the shop and campfire rooms. On top of that, next month will see the finalization of all six Apostle class skills and all three Tempest Avatar (Fury, Wisdom, and Fate) skills. Busy busy!
Art: 3D and Animations
We mentioned earlier that one of the projects the Web3 team has been working on is the Apostle NFTs for the Marketplace. This has also been a big part of the work for the Art 3D and Animations team. Each Dood Apostle NFT will have a customized appearance based on 2 helmets, 5 outfits, and 5 weapons to create 50 unique NFTs for each Apostle class. The final renders for the Warrior Apostle have now gone through, and now the team is moving to the Hunter.
The other big thing is skills! Skill effects for the Fury and Fate Tempest Avatars are complete. But as for Apostles…for the phase 1 of the demo, each Apostle has only 3 skills and 1 passive. But for phase 2 we’re adding another 5 skills for each Apostle. Multiply that by 6 and you’ve got 30 skills you need to model and animate. So that’s what they’re doing now — and probably will be doing for the next month as well.
Art: 2D and Concepts
It’s all about demo phase 2 for the Art 2D and Concepts team. They are presently finalizing artwork for Artifacts, Dungeon Event rooms, the rest of the Dood hero skill cards, AND the appearance of the PvP arena. None of this has been finished — it’s all work in progress, and constitutes the bulk of what the team will be working on in March as well.
Story/Lore
The Story/Lore team has been cooperating closely with the Art 2D and Concepts and Game Design teams to make sure that all of the latest revisions flesh out and develop Apeiron lore in interesting ways. This has involved the development of new characters and locations in the Axis Mundi — Apeiron’s Center of Creation — as well as new storylines for existing Apostles. Community
For the Apeiron Community, this month saw the kickoff for the Apeiron Guild Wars: Skydream Scramble (AGW) — our biggest ever cross-community/cross-DAO tournament with a massive $200k prize pool. We’ve got almost 50 communities joining us at time of writing, including top web3 game projects like Matr1x and Shrapnel, top pre-mint projects like Operation Sin, top Alphas like Project Godjrira, and top guilds like YGG. The tournament also has a diversified reward pool with sponsors from Derby Star, 3Verse, Hoshi Boshi, among others. It’s the creme-de-le-creme of the web3 community all getting together for this marquee event! So obviously organizing it all and running it has taken up a lot of the community team’s time this month, and will continue to do so.
In terms of our own community, we also held the season 4 Light vs Darkness Showdown — an Apeiron demo speedrun battle, best two out of three! Our wonderful community members Biku and Astariste acted as commentators for the showdown, which we livestreamed on Twitch. If you tuned in, you may have seen some doods and boods wandering around the screen — this was developed by our community member Seanny as a way for everyone to get more involved. Super fun, and great job Seanny!
Let’s break down the Showdown results. Match 1 was Bae Bae (Darkness) vs Seanny (Light). Bae Bae ended up taking the round with a time of 29m and 30s, putting Darkness on the board. Still, people were impressed with Seanny’s performance — including a solo kill of the final boss. Respect!
Match 2 was Jengkoz (Darkness) vs Abbie G (Light). Jengkoz won with a time of 21m and 43s, clinching the Showdown win for the side of Darkness. Still, people wanted to see Match 3, so they decided to play it out.
The final round was played between im4 (Darkness) vs Boss Oppa (Light), ranked 3rd and 1st on the Leaderboard, respectively. This one came down to the wire, with Boss Oppa just about clinching it with a time of 21m and 48s compared to im4’s 24m and 02s. These two will be facing off each other again in the Letrina Cup!
Speaking of the Letrina Cup, that’s one of the things we’ll be doing next month. March will also see the distribution of rewards for the completion of the AGW prelims and the beginning of the next rounds. We’ll also be hosting game nights on Wednesday in our community with different conditions for playing through the battle demo. And finally, LoreKeeper himself will be hosting some Godling drinks. Cheers!
And that, in a nutshell, is what everyone is working on. TL;DR — most teams working on stuff for the phase 2 of the demo. Star orbiting also coming soon. Lots of community events happening.

About Apeiron
Apeiron is the world’s first NFT-based play-and-earn godgame. Apeiron will feature a unique card-based action-adventure combat system combined with god game simulation gameplay inspired by classic god games like Populous and Black & White. Players will be able to build up planets from above before descending to the ground as a powerful Avatar to solve the mysteries of the universe. Players will grow their planet to the point of developmental stagnation, then reset the planetary cycle via an Armageddon event to allow for even more advancement and thrilling late-game alliance level GvE and GvG activities. Apeiron will use a tri-token architecture, which means that there will be three separate tokens to navigate their ecosystem: a governance token, a play-to-earn token, and a premium alliance token.
