The Apeiron Guild Wars: Skydream Scramble will be our biggest ever gameplay tournament with our biggest ever prize pool. The event will run over the course of February and March 2023 with finals held in May. We’ll be co-hosting the event alongside gaming platform GameFi.org, and have a ton of industry peers in the space joining up for the fun.

We wanted to host this tournament for a few reasons. First, it celebrates our demo coming out — which we’re very proud of and which has gotten a great reception. We want to put our baby in the spotlight and how better than with a marquee tournament? Second, we thought we’d put our money where our mouth is in terms of metaverse integration and collaboration. It’s something we’d all like to see happen, so let’s make it a reality! And finally, the markets are relatively quiet at the moment, so let’s gather and have some fun in the downtime~

So now you know why, let’s talk about how this tournament will work. February and March will be the 1st preliminary rounds in the leadup to the finals. During this period, we’ll set up a special leaderboard for the event that will track demo completion times of top community members. It’s a race to the finish line!

SEASON 1 PRELIMINARY PRIZES

Before we get to the prizes, let us first clarify that our Partner rewards pool is going to grow significantly, we’ve only just begun to reach out! So, for starters, the top 30% will advance to the Apeiron Guild Wars: Skydream Scramble tournament bracket in May. Then, the top EIGHT communities will IMMEDIATELY get:

Please note 3VERSE and Degenheim are both gaming partners contributing to our prize pool. Hoshi Boshi is a VTuber NFT project contributing to our prize pool.

Looking at the top prizes, we’ve put together these Planet sets as great ways for communities to get started in the Apeiron godiverse. The sets include everything a community needs to start breeding Planets — it’s actually enough to start an infinite breeding cycle — so that all members can get in the game!

And then there’s NFT integration. This involves a few things. First, it grants Primeval Privileges to the community, meaning early access testing, exclusive events and even communal airdrops. These communities will also receive priority integrations into our ecosystem, which we shall go into detail in a future article, where we lay down our steps in co-creating the foundations of the metaverse!

REGISTERING FOR THE GUILD WARS

Those are the prizes, and boy, those are some prizes. So then the next question is: how does your community sign up? First and foremost, we have this registration form HERE. If you are a community leader or manager, you can start your application for the tournament by filling out this form.

Please note we have a few requirements on what we consider a community. First, you need to have your socials in order. This means your community should have either some or all of Twitter, Telegram, Discord, and a website. Your community should also have a logo and at least 20 (active) members. We’ll be verifying this information for all our participant communities. Recently setup communities can expect a high degree of scrutiny to make sure they meet our standards.

Once we’ve verified your community, we’ll work with your leaders to sign up your community’s players. Then, in order to qualify for the leaderboards, a community must have at least 3 players who have completed the demo. If you get more of your members on board, we’ll take the best 3 times out of all of your community players. The more players you have, the better chance your community has of getting a competitive time and a shot at those prizes!

GETTING MORE GAME TIME FOR YOUR COMMUNITY

Speaking of getting time, when your community signs up we’ll give a set amount of game time to your members. But you may find this isn’t enough for you — maybe you want to hone your skills or heck, maybe you’re just having fun. We have a few ways to get more game time. First, you can buy either an Apeiron Planet NFT or Battlepass. Second, you can stream the game within your community (and show us proof!) and we’ll give you more. OR you can donate to charity! We have our own fundraising page set up to support the earthquake relief effort in Turkey and Syria. But if you have a cause closer to your own hearts, you can tell us, show us proof you’ve donated, and we’ll add your time! We call it Gaming for a Cause: let’s show that gamers can make a difference~

One last thing to mention about community signups and participation: in order to ensure competitive integrity for this event, we will be taking a zero tolerance approach to cheating INCLUDING individuals who try to hedge their bets by playing for multiple communities. Each individual may only represent ONE community. Individual offenders will be banned and communities may face disqualification. Don’t do it!

A UNITED METAVERSE

We’ve got a whole host of big names coming in for this event. First, let’s talk about our co-host, GameFi.org. GameFi.org is a gaming platform that offers various unique features for web3 users through creating and integrating meta-gaming. Meta-gaming takes the form of cross-platform quests, individualized progression systems, and community building that bring games to newer audiences and elevates social gaming to a higher level.

Trung Nguyen, GameFi.org’s Chief Product Officer, spoke of the shared background for the two organizations as an inspiration for co-hosting the tournament: “Aperion and GameFi.org have a close and familiar relationship as two companies sharing many investors and key partners, including Morningstar, YGG SEA and #Hashed. We are impressed with the high quality of Aperion’s game demo and are honored to be Aperion’s comprehensive partner for this event. GameFi.org is happy to co-host Aperion’s Guild Wars now and welcomes Aperion’s participation in the upcoming product releases of the Gamefi.org ecosystem. We are excited to explore each other’s potential and opportunities in the future.”

Besides GameFi.org, gaming platform Polkastarter will also be participating. Mostafa Salem, Head of Gaming Research at the org, had this to say when asked about joining the event: “We enjoyed playing Apeiron tons, on and off stream. The moment you boot it up for a couple of games, it sucks you in instantly with its addicting gameplay and challenging dungeons. The game is one of the few that truly are “easy to pick up, but difficult to master,” especially if you are aiming for speed runs. We can’t wait to see what else the team has in store for us with future updates.”

Gaming platforms aren’t the only orgs joining our tournament — not by a longshot. We have a slew of gaming guild giants jumping in on the fun, including Guildfi, Avocado, YGG SEA, and Snackclub. Gaming guilds are industry leaders, the web3 publishers of the future and a point of accessibility for many regions previously devoid of hardware and support.

Gazinpoj “Kit” Techahuasingh, co-founder of Guildfi, has put his hat in our corner: The quality of the Apeiron Demo is fantastic. This is undoubtedly the future of the web3 game. We can’t wait to play the full version later this year.” Avocado DAO co-founder Brendino also gave us his org’s support, with a little dig at competitors Guildfi: “The whole team at Avocado enjoyed Apeiron. Great graphics, fun gameplay, simple yet effective mechanics. We’re excited to see what the full version will deliver, and we can’t wait to battle Guildfi.”

Joining alongside the guilds are Alpha NFT communities Project Godira, Surgence, Habibz, and Zooverse. These groups pool talent and resources among their dedicated members to make informed decisions based on quantitative and qualitative data about NFT trading and project investment, and are made up of some of the most passionate and elite gamers in the space. We’re excited to see the energy and spirit they’ll be bringing to this tournament.

The excitement among our partners for this tournament is palpable. A Matr1x FIRE spokesperson wrote effusively: “Matr1x FIRE is excited to work together with Apeiron, a prestigious game project, to deliver a best-in-class, immersive Web3 gaming experience. Let’s ignite the fire through this tournament!”

Following up on this theme. The Beacon core team member Jose said: “At The Beacon, we embrace the idea of unity in the web3 gaming space, working towards a shared objective of reaching genuine gamers and sharing our communities. We’re proud to be a part of this event!”

Similarly, Clare, core team member for the E4C project, shared: ““We are so glad to build Web3 together with such a great game project like Apeiron that we have the same mission to bring users a truly high-quality and playable Web3 game experience. Charity and environmental protection have always been our concern, especially climate change is the mission of our company. We hope to do our part for charity together through this tournament.”

Aline, COO of Degenheim, praised Apeiron for empowering its players: “Love to discover fully-gamified flagship projects — fusing the roguelite gaming experience of Web2 with Web3 ownership — empowering you, empowering the player. And also, don’t forget to also check out Degenheim!”

Bonus quotes! VTuber project HOSHI BOSHI has been kind enough to chip in to our prize pool. SENSEI, HOSHI BOSHI founder, was glowing in his remarks: ““It’s been a while since I’ve seen something that’s worth pitching into the reward pool for, this tournament is definitely helpful to the space as a whole.”

Finally, looking at our own community: one of our current top ranked demo players who wishes to remain anonymous, wrote this of their experiences playing: “I think the game is quite amazing. So much depth and strategy to it. Even after countless hours, I’m still finding new strategies and new ways to position my units.”

About Apeiron

Apeiron is the world’s first NFT-based play-and-earn godgame.
