Hey everyone! This week we snagged some late night snacks to munch on as we sat down in the wee hours with Brendan from Ancient8 and chatted about gaming guilds, the metaverse, and of course, Apeiron. Join us, then, for an exclusive behind-the-scenes interview chock full of tasty insights and clever nibbles~

Alright! That was some housekeeping. Time for a bit of a break. Time for a snack even. A late night snack! With Ancient8~ Let’s do it!

Foonie Magus: Hello Brendan! How are you doing?

Brendan: Hey! I’m good. A little tired, it’s quite late here haha. But I’m excited for this interview!

FM: Well hey, thanks for making the time to talk with us! So let’s get started: could you tell our dear readers who you are and what you do?

Brendan: Absolutely. My name is Brendan Donovan and I’m the Content Marketing Manager here at Ancient8, which means I oversee all the content we produce globally across all our marketing and research channels.

FM: Cool cool! Could I ask you to elaborate a little more about Ancient8? You guys are a gaming guild, is that right?

Brendan: That’s certainly part of it! We see ourselves as web3 gaming infrastructure builders, and there are three pillars to that: the guild, community, and software. In terms of the guild, we actually manage the largest blockchain gaming guild in Vietnam, and we’re expanding on a global scale right now!

FM: That’s awesome! Ok, to dive into a little more detail…you mentioned that you oversee “marketing and research.” What kind of research are you talking about?

Brendan: We see our research as a part of our “community” pillar. We have a Research Portal on our website where we report the latest news in the space, overview macro trends, and do deep dives into different games. It represents an effort for us to provide institutional-grade education to people in the community, and especially our core community in Vietnam. And it’s all absolutely free!

FM: Everyone loves free stuff. I guess then that covers some of the community pillar — and we’ve talked about the guild pillar. What about the “software” pillar? What kind of tools are you guys working on?

Brendan: Quite a lot actually! We’re working on a full suite of marketing and infrastructure projects that will all be linked by our Ancient8 User ID (UID). Apart from the UID, we’ve also launched our second project, the Ancient8 Dojo — it’s the first web3 gaming-focused launchpad on Solana, hosting both NFT sales — IGOs (Initial Game Offering) and token sales as well. Right now we’re focused on building on the Solana chain, and we plan to move multi-chain in the not-so-distant future.

FM: Right, makes sense. And thanks! I think that gives us a pretty clear picture of Ancient8. So now let’s shift gears and talk about Apeiron. How did you hear about us? First impressions?

Brendan: We’re always on the lookout for games that bring something new to the table, and Apeiron really impressed us with its very unique gameplay format. I mean, card battling + god game? There’s nothing else like it. And, speaking personally, I used to love playing god games like Spore, so it’s great to see you guys bringing that back.

FM: The world’s first and only NFT god game!

Brendan: Exactly. So that impressed us. And on top of that, we think that your tokenomics is very well thought out. It’s nuanced, thoughtful, and focused on keeping a sustainable economy, which is something we put a lot of value in.

FM: Sustainability is key for us — we’re here for the long term. And speaking of the long term, what kinds of collaborations are we doing now between Apeiron and Ancient8, and what can we expect going forward?

Brendan: Well there’s a few things. Of course we’re introducing our community to this game, a game we’re very excited about. You can go to our Research Portal right now and see an in-depth Game Analysis of Apeiron with all the key information you need to get started, and we think that’s a great jumping off point for new users.

And then in terms of the future…we’re pretty big on esports. We actually organized and hosted the Axie Infinity Vietnamese championships, the 1st web3 esports tournament in Vietnam with a total prize pool of $25,000, and we’re very much looking forward to having more of a web3 esports scene when Apeiron launches, as our community and esports team have shown a significant interest in Apeiron!.

FM: Yeah, and for Apeiron, the epic battles between gods (and doods!) really lends itself to entertaining esports viewing — at least we think so haha. Cool! So I know you’re busy, we should start wrapping up…one thing we always like to ask: do you think you’re going to be a benevolent god or an evil one in your first Apeiron playthrough?

Brendan: Oh that’s a good question. I think for me I’d start benevolent and then go through something like a Walter White character arc, like I’d be drawn into the dark side haha.

FM: Haha that sounds like an interesting playthrough! Right then…any last comments before we sign off?

Brendan: Yeah I wanted to say that Ancient8 is really proud to be partnered with Apeiron in working together to bring in the next generation of Metaverse citizens. We fully believe in the power of web3 to empower gaming, and games like Apeiron will prove that web3 is bringing the next level of entertainment and value for gamers.
