Hello and welcome to another of our amazingly colorful, colorfully written blog posts! Last week we took our first peek into the intricacies of Dood society through the topic of Dood foods, and today we’re continuing to peel back the layers of this onion with our first tour centered around Dood architecture, or Doodchitecture.
The Doods have been busy preparing for our arrival, but, as usual, many fell asleep, or went off to have a second dinner instead, the lazy bastards. Still, at least some of them came through for us and are ready to give us a peek at their homes. We’ll be taking a look at the Doodchitecture of three different planet types of the godiverse: Normal, Mountainous, and Wasteland!
But of course, before we get started a quick reminder that the Apeiron Grand Prix is ongoing, right now! You can enter, right now, absolutely free, and have the chance to win up to FOUR Primeval Planet Core NFTs from Mythic to Divine rarity! This is one of the biggest prizes we’ve ever given out, so if you’re passionate about Apeiron, this is a great chance to get involved. Check out the details for the competition HERE.
Now then, hold onto your hats and socks, off we go! We’ll start our tour on the Normal Planets. Normal worlds are a mix of all four elements, consisting of a spread of earth, water, air, and fire. While not particularly powerful in terms of divine Avatar — the elemental strength being divided rather than concentrated — they do provide some of the most pleasant environments for the Doods, who are happy to soak in the bounty of nature in all of its aspects.
Doods on Normal worlds clump together in idyllic, pastoral communities, where they do their darndest (read: as little as doodly possible) to put food on the table. The Doods here are #blessed, spending their time frolicking in the tinkling streams and lazing about the gentle valleys, thinking about life, love, and food (mostly food). In terms of Doodchitecture, there is a notable “dumpling” theme. From the houses to the mines, baths, and sawmills, dumplings predominate.
Doods love food more than anything — favoring junk food — and dumplings provide that ideal combination of carbs and meat that Doods adore. But on top of that, the roundness of the dumpling is very friendly: no rough edges or corners here. And the way the dumpling wrapper envelops the meat, protecting it by giving it a nice big hug — well, there’s a reason that the Doods have the expression “as happy as a dumpling.” Without having to worry about environmental dangers, the Doods are free to express themselves, and so of course they develop their towns and villages to be — dumplings!
Moving right along, we find ourselves on a Mountainous Planet, a world composed of earth, water, and fire. Without the air element present, Mountainous worlds are somewhat rockier and more barren than their Normal counterparts. The Doods living here are significantly more muscular than their farmland cousins — not because they workout a lot (heavens no!), but because they’re constantly going up and down the mountains and hills of their homeworld…it just sort of happens. Plus, the Avatars of the Mountainous worlds tend to encourage the Doods to work as their little helpers.
Due to the fact that they have to undertake more strenuous activities than the typical Dood, the Doods of the Mountainous worlds are particularly keen eaters — it’s always easy to spot the communal eatery, which prominently displays a large (enormous!) rack of meat. You will likely find it harder, however, to find a seat at the eatery, as it’s almost always packed to the rafters.
In terms of Doodchitecture, the Mountainous Doods’ homes need to be much sturdier than those of the Normal worlds in order to withstand the frequent rockslides and earthquakes. The houses, then, are built into the ground rather than up out of it, with a small door and the occasional tiny window providing entrance and light to the cozy sunken living area. The roofs are thickly built to provide insulation during the cold winters, while also doubling as a handy place to lay out laundry during more temperate days.
But if you’re visiting the Mountainous Planets, the very first thing you need to do is stop by the hot springs. These serve as the communal baths for the Doods, and they’re almost as popular as the eatery. There’s nothing quite like a relaxing bath after a long day of doing nothing except eating. Ah. Bliss.
Still, can’t spend forever in the hot springs! We’re on a journey, and the last part of our tri-part tour is on the Wasteland Planets. The Wastelands are a mysterious place. A combination of Earth, Fire, and Air, they are barren…at first glance. In fact, magic flows on powerful currents through the air here, divested from the element of water. Life springs up from the most unusual of places.
Perhaps most interesting are the enigmatic pink-ish crystals mined from the Planet’s depths. The Doods of the Wastes quickly identified these crystals as being very useful. Not only could they be burned to produce a pinkish flame — thus providing easy fuel for fire — but also could be crushed and put into bath water to make a minerally rejuvenating washtime experience.
Because the crystals are so important to daily life — and also perhaps because of the aggressive fauna and spiky flora that makes up the Wastelands — the Doods here are of a pricklier disposition than others. In order to work off anxiety and frustration, there are weekly wrestling matches. It’s not quite enough though: there are also frequent scraps with other Dood communities. Gotta steal the crystals!
In terms of Doodchitecture, the Doods here move around more than most as they search for crystal outcroppings and mines, and there homes tend to be simple tents — easy enough to put up and quick enough to tear down in the case it’s time to move on. It’s gotta be functional. The one exception, of course, is the eatery — or Meatery, as it’s proudly called by the Wasteland Doods — and visitors would be remiss not to pick up a Waste’s Kebab, a juicy and succulent selection of the finest meats (with a couple accompanying plants…for flavor!) to be found on the Planet.
Alright, now onwards to our next- oh, yeah, right. We’re done! The other Doods aren’t quite ready yet. Cool…we’re done then! FOR NOW. We’ll be back later to explore more the Doodchitecture and life on some of the other Planets.
