During the winter time, the doods are all about that huddlin’, cuddlin’, and snugglin’ to keep warm because baby it’s cold outside. They even have butt muffs to keep their particularly rotund posteriors nice and toasty. Every dood agrees butt muffs are a fashion staple in the godiverse during the winter season. They’re practical AND add an attitude to a dood’s fit. My god, so chic.
Well godlings, you guessed it, today we’ve got a piece on some of the godiverse’s Doodmas lore to share with y’all! On top of that, today we’ll also be looking at the schedule for a set of holiday Nebula Expeditions going live soon as part of our Ronin Migration Celebration.
Speaking of which, the migration is live NOW! If you haven’t already, make sure you migrate your assets over from the old marketplace to the new one. You can read all about it HERE and HERE. And make sure to check out the quests we have goin’ on at Moku right now.
There’s a lot happening and ultimately it’s all a big party, which is perfect for this holiday time of year. So let’s get to it!
Holiday Expeditions
First up we have a wonderful slate of delicious new staking events for you doods! For those of you who might be new, we call these Nebula Expeditions. Basically, for each of these expeditions you can stake your Planet and Apostle NFTs in return for a chance to win rewards.
What exactly the rewards are depends on the expedition, while your chance to win is related to the number and rarity of your assets as well as how long you stake for. You can read all about the nitty gritty details on expeditions HERE.
For this holiday season we’ve got TWO new awesome expeditions, two new nebulas for you to plunder for treasure: the “Mirrored Soul Nebula” and the “Foonie Mavis Nebula.”
The Mirrored Soul Nebula Expedition will reward our in-game currency ANIMUS, and will actually be split up into three separate staking events to give everyone a bit more flexibility in how exactly you choose to stake your assets. Specifically, the dates for exploring the Mirrored Soul Nebula are as follows:
The Christmas Adventure — Dec 22 — Dec 28
New Years Adventure — Dec 29 — Jan 4
Hungover Adventure — Jan 5 — Jan 11
For these expeditions, for the first time, you’ll be able to stake up to (6) Planets and (12) minted Apostles. The higher the IVs, the more chance you have to win rewards, so this is a great time to farm up some premium Apostles.
Please note also that we will have special rewards just for joining these ones! Everyone who stakes will get (1) a redemption code for a Doodelic Wings free mint item and (2) a redemption code for 6 Booty Hours. The codes will be sent to your marketplace-linked email account once the expedition is over.
Finally, to cap it all off, we have a special treat: the Foonie Mavis Nebula Expedition. This nebula represents the birth of the Axie Stella Constellation, and will actually reward Star NFTs, which function as the rentable land of the Apeiron godiverse. This is truly a one-of-a-kind expedition and you definitely don’t want to miss out on a chance to get your own Star, so mark your calendars!
For the Foonie Mavis Expedition, you’ll be able stake (1) Planet and (12) Apostles from the newly minted classes (Guardian, Rogue, Mage) AND your $RON tokens — as much as you want! This expedition will run from Jan 12 — Jan 19. Good luck!
______
We imagine you’ll be blasting off on some expeditions this holiday, but you might be wondering — what are the doods of the godiverse up to? It’s doodmas, after all! How do they celebrate? Well first and foremost we would be remiss if we didn’t direct you to these INCREDIBLY WRITTEN (“5 out of 5, if I could read, and if I had read it,” — Dood on the street) Medium articles from last year with a delightfully doody holiday story. Find ’em HERE (Part 1) and HERE (Part 2).
This year we’re going to talk more in broad terms about some doody holiday season lore: the foods that doods tend to eat on Doodmas, and some of the notable traditions. Enjoy!
Doodmas Delights
When we talk about Doodmas, of course we have to talk about the foods first. After all, doods don’t exactly need an excuse to eat a lot of food, but Doodmas is especially special because there’s A LOT of foods to eat — making it a holiday that every dood looks forward to all year round.
In fact Doodmas is so popular that some doods also celebrate “Half Doodmas”, which is the halfway point in the year towards Doodmas. But it’s never really caught on, to be honest. Anyway!
Foods, wonderful foods for wonderful doods. What’s on the menu? It depends where you come from! All Planets of the godiverse are aspected towards the four elements of Fire, Water, Air, and Earth in different ways, which influences the types of tasty holiday treats the doods will whip up.
For instance, doods on Earth-ier Planets where there are a ton of fruits lying around will make Dot Dot Cake, so called for its famous speckled appearance. Basically doods will go around picking up any sort of fruit lying around and toss it into a great big vat of batter, bake it up, then smother it with a drippingly sweet icing. The tricky thing about this one is keeping the doodlings hands off of the icing in particular, the sugary sweetness draws them like moths to a flame.
And speaking of flame, what’re they eatin’ on Fire-aspected Planets? In short: meat. Doods are big meat lovers, and Fire-aspected worlds are renowned for the meat platters that go on sale during the holidays. Skewers dripping with juices and spices, cold cuts of hams and cured meats, whole tupeck and groat roasts — you wouldn’t want to miss one of these feasts. If you’re really lucky you’ll be able to get some Dolk Wellingdood, a large holk of dolk meat carefully enveloped in flaky pastry. It’s tricky to make though, so most doods just opt for frying up a steak instead.
Now when we talk about Air-aspected worlds — well, the wind sure does blow something chilly at this time of year. And when the wind is howling, what you really need is a good soup to warm you up. Dood soups come in all kinds of varieties, from thin broths with meatballs or dumplings (and often both) to thick stews packed with taters and other starchy ballast. Also if you see a dood looking kind of…well, orange, it might be because they had a rich bowl of ketchy soup, made from the red ketchy plant, which has the quality of suffusing doods’ skin with an orange glow until the morning after. Very nourishing.
Last but not least we have the Water-aspected Planets, and here it’s all about ice ice ice, and, well, snow too. Hot koko made from freshly melted snow: you can’t beat it, many a dood would swear to their god. Ice cream mixed with snow, ice, and cream from the soft loins of a verygold beast, which only come out from their underground nests in the winter. And then there’s the home specialty that many doods will make: a crushed ice dish where the ice flakes are doused in a syrupy sweet sauce, usually made from twinkle berries. Refreshing, delicious, in a word: delightful.
Where would you want to visit first?
Winterland Traditions
Once you’re done eating, it’s story time. What kind of traditions do the doods have when it’s this time of year? Well it all starts with Father Doodmas.
Father Doodmas is a special sort of dood. He wears a big fluffy red coat with white trimming and has a big white beard because he’s pretty old. He flies around in a special sled that travels through the air, which is pretty impressive when you think about it. It is said that he was the first dood to celebrate Doodmas, and that he decided to do so because of all doods, he loved food the most (and that’s saying something), so he turned feasting into the doodiest of holidays. Most importantly, he distributes all kinds of food, FREELY. That’s the point. He’s Father Doodmas.
These are the myths the doods know about Father Doodmas, and all over the godiverse they wait for him to show up every year and toss yummy snacks down from his sleigh in the sky. But what’s the REAL story behind Father Doodmas? Turns out he was once just a regular dood. And every day for his whole life he prayed for this one thing — this one idea — Doodmas, a holiday for doods, just for eating and presents and happy times. And he wished it so many times that one day, one of the gods in the godiverse finally took note, and granted it. Dedication to a dream is a beautiful thing. Or maybe annoying persistence is enough to break down even divine patience? Whatever! Doodmas is awesome.
Besides for watching out at night for Father Doodmas’ rain of free food, doodlings on the holidays LOVE to participate in the Snowball Wars. These are month-long snowball fights that happen between doodlings from different villages. Every day the doodlings will march off to battle and return either happily victorious or battered…but still happy.
What are the wars over? No one really knows or cares. What do the winners get? Not much more than bragging rights. But when you see those doodlings running around pelting each other with snowballs, slipping and sliding on the ice, sledding down the side of hills for a flanking assault before all tumbling together in a laughing pile — that’s the Doodmas spirit, right there, plain for all to see.
And indeed, there’s someone up there who is certainly keeping an eye on things, because despite the mess that the doodlings make playing out in the snow, during the Snowball Wars every day has a fresh coat of powder for the doodlings to enjoy. Those who look up at the clouds might be able to spot a shadow in the gloom, a silhouette of something godly hiding away from doody eyes…
But doodlings don’t tend to look up. Rather, after a day of snowballing, they rush home to have a steaming mug of hot koko by the fire, with a lump of snow in it to cool it down to the perfect temperature and to give it a festive feeling.
Outside, as day turns to night, the prayer bubbles of all the doods float up towards the gods — and there they stay, frozen by the cold. Twinkling in the starlight, it is a beautiful sight — all those dreams, crystallized, hanging halfway to heaven, shining in the darkness. And in the background, the faint laughter of Father Doodmas as he delivers his delicious gifts all around the godiverse.
