Earth
The grassier parts of the godiverse are rich with a variety of sounds, reflecting both the sibilant rustlings of the trees in the woods and the baritone rumblings in the deep places of the Earth. Clintina, the Lady of Earth, enjoys bringing together these myriad musical notes in doody bands that perform long into the night after a long day of questing in the name of High Goddess Cosmos. Here are some of the instruments that doody musicians living in this realm might use:
Dolk Drum
First on the list we have dolk drums. Crafted from the surprisingly soft and supple skin of dolks, this drum creates a deeply warm tone that has a strange allure to doods. This type of drum is most commonly used during the harvest ritual where doods would hold hands and perform the Bumbum dance around the large sacred rock near Lady Clintina’s humble home. It is said that by doing this dance around this rock to the tune of a dolk drum, the harvest of fruits and goods will be expedited — more food, faster!
Beyond its use in rituals, this instrument is quite a favorite amongst doods, largely because it can be easily learned. It also creates a hypnotic beat that speaks to the doods’ primal nature. The moment doods hear its buttery beats, they will drop everything that they’re doing and start doing stubby taps with their feet.
Cin-nomnom Stick Shaker
In the shaded wallowing parts of the forest, twigs of cin-nomnom rolls can be found amidst piles of leaves. Though they are most often picked to make the infamous pommegranny pie, occasionally, doods like to pick them off the forest ground and bring them home for special treatment. By dipping them in sweet preservatives, the sticks can be prepped and hardened under the scorching suns of the godiverse.
After the sticks are dry and hardened, they are tied in bundles so that when they brush against each other, there is a bony rustling sound that goes: “Whack Click Whack… ” in staccato fashion. Importantly, the musical shaker can still be eaten as a tasty, crunchy snack when the need arises.
Diggy Flute
Initially, doods used hollow wooden tubes to amplify village announcements, but later they discovered that when one blows raspberries into the tube, the hollow pipe will produce a long, deep droning sound which can be transformed into music. Kakaki — the most proficient player of the Diggy flute, has built a reputation by performing in some of the cooler shops in the White City; his enchanting melodies never fail to mesmerize a swooning audience of doodettes with his soothing rhythms.
Fire
The crackling realm of Fire has some of the most exciting events in the godiverse, it has canopies of amazing street food, it has ships flying over the desert and a volcano rumbling over everything — expect the music to be just as exciting! Prepare to hear some hardcore(ish) metallic tunes that capture the explosive energy of flame.
Wrist Bells
During Fireball matches (read here), many heavily tattooed doods can be spotted wearing wrist bells and cheering for their favorite teams. Some of the leaner doods would even fasten these around their waist, jumping up and down to keep their hands free for more important things — holding bundles of groat skewers! The bells are crafted from minerals found in ashen sands near the base of the local volcano. After doods scoop and filter the sand for shiny twinkle rocks, these are sent to a workshop in the Charring Compound. There, the rocks are smelted and shaped into tiny bells before ending up on the wrists of the wild doods. With a shling and a shlong, the arena instantly becomes the wildest place to be, hyping up doods in every corner with the noisy jingle jangle.
Flaming Guitar
In the area around the Charring Compound, a group of juvenile doods will hop around the volcano with their flaming guitars, setting other dood huts on fire while playing — to the frustration of the locals, who officially banned the band from playing. Now they only play at night on empty Fireball pitches. One of the flaming guitar bands, named the Backwoods Warriors were the first dood band to be invited to open for the Epic Fireball Tournament and actually played at halftime. History was made. The famous “Twinkle Toe” hit was scored by the Charries on that very same day. Go Charriesss!!!!
As night comes to the Fire ream, the scorched quartz crystals, heated in the flaming temperatures during the day, start to creak and chime faintly as they cool, producing a lullaby that soothes the peaceful doods resting in their huts to sleep. They call it the Quartzsong, and many doods from the Fire realms who end up traveling to other places have trouble sleeping without some sort of noise in the background to remind them of their distant home.
Air
In the Land of Soaring Winds, the air tinkles with the resonance of chimes. It is as if the Elemental Lord of Air Lark’s presence lingers in the atmosphere. The soundscape here is mainly made up of different kinds of hums that reverberate as the wind sweeps across the natural mountainous formations, the valleys and hills. The constantly shifting winds create a continuous background melody for doods, making the homeland of Lord Lark as a stark contrast to the fire realm — ethereal, harmonious, unfettered.
The Sacred Hums of the Vortex Verge
Among all the mountains, the most noticeable hum emanates from the tallest peak of them all — the Vortex Verge. It is a two pronged, fork-like mountain with a large circle in the middle. It was rumored that this opening was made by one of Lord Lark’s mighty gusts. Another rumor says that the rock that used to be there was a special candy rock that doods licked and ate away, leaving only the circle. Whatever the case, the Vortex Verge stands grandly, making a deep humming note whenever the breeze stirs, resonating calmness.
Lark’s Theremin
The deep resonating hums on this land are often the most angelic when accompanied with Lark’s theremin — one of the rarest musical instruments to exist in the godiverse. According to dood myths, the god creates the music by imbuing his wind magic into the instrument and plays it by moving his hand ever so slightly in the space above it, creating a distinctive timbre that sounds just like a singsong bird. Doods that know (or pretend to know) a thing or two about the arts like to gather near the Vortex Verge, in hopes that Lord Lark shows up for an impromptu performance.
Chimmy Chimes
An array of chimmy chimes are scattered throughout the Land of Soaring Winds, placed to catch not just the wind, but the magical currents of mana-rich air from Lord Lark’s passing. Each chime, varying in different size and tone, emits a pure crystalline sound that fills the air with its melodious notes. As the chimmy chimes collide with each other, the gentle yet metallic notes would weave into a unique pattern that echoes differently every time. The notes blend seamlessly with the natural sounds of the environment, harmonizing perfectly with Lark’s Theremin. Delivery doods soaring by will try to run their fingers across the chimes as they fly to their next destination.
Water
In Coralia, a city of restlessness on the bottom of the sea, doods might expect the music here to be deep-house, arcadey. But in addition to the electronic and 8-bit game music, doods here do occasionally enjoy music as fluid as the water itself, music that enchants and makes the doods forget what they were doing, as if they had fallen under one of Lady Protea’s hypnotic spells.
Pop Pan Drums
The Grand Arcade in Coralia is always switching up their games. As a result the laneways of the Arcade district are always filled with scraps and pieces of metal plates from old game cabinets that have been disassembled and remade. One of the doods living on the streets of Coralia — Boho — found that these could be used as a drum that would make a strangely unique, haunting sound. And so it was that he created the first Pop Pan Drum, which quickly became a hit around the city.
Within the hustle and bustle of the Arcade district in Coralia where most acoustics are blended into one indistinguishable noise, doods of the Water realm can always detect the faintly soothing, raindrop-like sounds emanating in between the narrow alleyways that interconnect the five different arcades. Doods that have lost many arcade games often find solace in the beautiful harmonies played on these Pop Pan Drums.
Cora-lolophone
Corals found in the murky depths of Coralia are sometimes punctured with holes and brought into the city; doods now call them cora-lolophone because it makes sounds through the vibration of water! According to oral tradition, a crafty dood named Poko once accidentally sat on a piece of coral and nudged a bunch of holes onto it. After a few attempts of trying to fix the coral, he realized by pressing the jets of water coming through the openings, music can be created! From then onwards, he made it his life’s mission to pierce holes on to different sizes of corals so that the seabed of Coralia will always have a rich, organ-like sound as ambience.
Cross-Realm Performance — Fritz’s Choir!
Every year the White City hosts a music festival, welcoming doods from all the elemental realms to participate and showcase their musical talents. With the welcome mat spread far and wide, all types of noises are heard in the White City. Doods beating their own drums, tooting their own horns, or even…singing!
Fritz, the God of Harmony, is one of the few deities who enjoys being involved in this event (most find it way too noisy). In fact, he always assembles his own choir of doods to participate! As the God of Harmony, he loves the idea of doods being in sync and harmonizing each other through beautiful melodies. But somehow, it always brings him to frustration because doods will always be doods, being properly in sync just doesn’t really work for them. Even a god can’t change the nature of doods!

And there you have it, folks, the sounds of the godiverse, music to our souls. Although the bard doods will always end up snatching the top prizes at the annual music festival, the real victory lies in the unity and diversity of music.
