Greetings godlings! Today we’re happy to share you with our January 2023 Development Report. We’ll be reviewing what our different teams here at Foonie Magus have been working on over the past month as well as what they’re doing now. Please note that because of the Lunar New Year, most of our staff ended up taking some time off in the latter half of Jan to recharge and spend time with family, especially since it’s been a busy time getting the demo ready for release. Now then, without further ado, let’s jump right in!
Web3 Team
For January, the Web3 Team spent the month in close cooperation with the Game Development Team to ensure the smooth delivery of the Apeiron Dungeon Demo. In particular, on the Web3 side, the team succeeded in setting up our Marketplace’s Battlepass burning for game time functionality, as well as posting our Dungeon Demo competitive speedrun Leaderboards.
Looking forward, following the release of the demo, the Web3 Team will be shifting gears to focus on implementing various features for our Star (land) NFTs. What we’re looking at right now includes:
Backend and Frontend for Star Orbital Tracks (OTs)
Finalizing UI designs for the OTs
Revise the smart contracts based on the finalized design.
Support Astronomicals on our Marketplace and prepare for Star orbiting.
Game Development Team
The Game Development Team has been all cylinders on getting the demo out there. This has involved a number of complex and ever-evolving tasks, such as coding boss behavior and skills, finalizing UI and bug fixing (always with the bug fixing), and polishing level design. It’s also meant big jobs like deploying the production server for the Dungeon Demo. With these tasks now done, the Game Development Team is looking at:
Developing and delivering balance patching service
Fine tuning server performance and debugging
More in the long term, the Game Dev Team is also interested in potentially rewriting enemy AI systems to support more complex behavior. Clever boods… :0
Game Design Team
In a running theme for this particular Development Report, the Game Design Team has been supporting the Development Team in ensuring the delivery of the 1st phase of the Dungeon Demo. This has involved designing the Dungeon Demo content, as well as working on all aspects of the Avatar and Apostle skill designs.
The Design Team is now turning its attention the Demo phase 2, which includes:
Artifact and Relic Design
Complete Dungeon Designs
Dungeon Event Designs
ALL Apostle Skills for the existing classes
ALL Avatar (Air) Skills
There’s A LOT here, and not all of it may make it into the next release. But rest assured, we’ll be packing in as much as we can! We’ll have more details on what will be a part of the next major patch next month.
Art Team — 3D and Animations
For the 3D and Animations department of the Art Team, the last couple of months have been putting the finishing touches on the Dungeon Demo. This came down to two things: (1) putting together all the animations for the boss (as well as all of his nasty skills) and (2) animating the awesome cutscenes which really tie the demo together.
For now, it’s pretty much all about skills, with most of the team working on skill animations and effects for the release of the Tempest Fury and Tempest Fate Avatar combat classes. There are also a few doods making the Constellations 3D and adding animations. Gotta get those Stars twinkling!
Art Team — 2D, Concept, and Design
The 2D, Concepts, and Design department of the Art Team for January was working on the design for the skill cards as well as the concept and storyboarding for the demo cutscenes. That being done, the work continues…pretty much the same as before, with EVEN MORE skill cards to design for both Avatars and Apostles.
The team is also looking at working on visuals for the background of some of Apeiron’s major characters…but we’ll keep it under wraps for now~
Story Team
[TOP SECRET FOR LOREKEEPER’S EYES ONLY]
And that’s pretty much it! That’s what everyone working on Apeiron’s development has been working on.
TL;DR January — Everyone worked on finishing the demo. We did it! Then Lunar New Year happened, and people chilled. Now we back and keep going, gonna add much much more~
We hope that this Dev Report has given you some insight into how Apeiron is being pieced together. This is how we build a godiverse: skill by skill, Apostle by Avatar, Planet by Star!

About Apeiron
Apeiron is the world’s first NFT-based play-and-earn godgame. Apeiron will feature a unique card-based action-adventure combat system combined with god game simulation gameplay inspired by classic god games like Populous and Black & White. Players will be able to build up planets from above before descending to the ground as a powerful Avatar to solve the mysteries of the universe. Players will grow their planet to the point of developmental stagnation, then reset the planetary cycle via an Armageddon event to allow for even more advancement and thrilling late-game alliance level GvE and GvG activities. Apeiron will use a tri-token architecture, which means that there will be three separate tokens to navigate their ecosystem: a governance token, a play-to-earn token, and a premium alliance token.
