Hello to one and all! It’s another beautiful Tuesday here at Foonie Magus, and we have another wonderful giveaway so you can continue to build up your collection of exclusive Apeiron Origins Apostles. Announcing: *dramatic drum roll* …the Gallant Guardian Giveaway! *wooo and ahhh* *excited clapping sounds*
If you would, dear reader, permit me to encourage you to imagine the following: your Warrior is charging around the frontlines, boldly holding back the enemy. Then he gets whomped, thumped, and knocked out of the galaxy. Because the truth is, the Warrior isn’t a tank in the truest sense of the word: the Warrior is a hybrid of defense and offense. But sometimes the best defense isn’t a good offense. Sometimes the best defense is…well, defense. And there ain’t no defense quite like the Guardian.
The Guardian Apostle Dood’s greatest strength is its similarity with a wall: it prevents other things from moving past it without a certain amount of difficulty. Notably, the wall comparison is valid in other ways, too — the Guardian being about as interesting and intelligent as your standard brick wall. The Rogue Apostles tried to joke with them: they didn’t get the joke. The Warriors tried to teach them about enemy weak points: they had trouble hitting the enemy at all. The Mages used their magic to look inside their minds and left baffled, and some of them scared, by the vast emptiness they had deigned to witness.
So why does the Guardian follow you at all? What makes them Apostles? They started out by just following along from behind, clinging to the coattails of the rest of the group. They found themselves right in front of the enemy. But something — some mysterious resilience — steeled their souls just when they needed it most. And they held on. Again, and again, and again. They were the Doods who no one thought would make it. But they did: and now, they’re the toughest of them all.
In the party, the Guardian stands around awkwardly waiting for someone to talk to them because they aren’t quite sure what to say except beeefffcaakkkeeeee. They’d like to be helpful, but often cause more problems than they’re worth, so Warriors make excuses when they’re cooking and say they’re too busy. They don’t really have anything worth stealing, so Rogues ignore them. Mages and Bards, on the other hand, have never had a more willing audience. Guardians listen with rapt attention to any performance or story — they might not understand everything (anything?), but they love it nonetheless. When left to their own devices, they work out, pump some iron.
When you’re in combat, bring a Guardian or two when you know that you’re going up against some heavy-hitters, and you need some Doods who can take some punishment. With abilities like Steel Soul and Shields up! your damage dealers will have all the time they need to throw the decisive counterpunch.
*a voice in the distance cries out* “I too would like a Guardian Apostle! How does one such as I go about the acquisition of this valiant defender?”
