Alright, now let’s turn the spotlight on our healer par excellence: the Priest. The Priest Apostles are some of the most respected of all the Apostles. This is not only because they keep the other Doods alive and kicking during battle, but because they engage in frequent prayer and holy communion with the gods. The other Doods watch in awe as the Priests lead them in mysterious rituals, delivering fiery sermons while waving their arms around theatrically. They don’t really understand what it all means. But they certainly know it means something.

Why do the Priests decide to follow you in particular and become your Apostle? The Priest would tell the other Doods they didn’t choose to follow, but rather, with a pugnacious grin, that they were chosen. Yet of course, in truth, even though the Apeiron universe is replete with gods and godlings, not all of them are the friendliest. Some of them even ignore the Priest! At least you paid them some attention. That’s really all they ever wanted.

In combat, the Priests are the battery keeping the party juiced up, the grease keeping the gears turning smoothly: they are the healers. When not refilling HP pools with spells such as Living on a Prayer, they can be found buffing up allies with helpful abilities like Godling’s Blessing, which adds a powerful overshield to a faithful party member.

Outside of combat, when the party is resting, the Priests often find themselves competing with the Bard and the Mage for an audience, but can’t quite match the Bard’s charismatic performances or the Mage’s stupendous storytelling. So instead, Priests can be found cornering one member of the group or the other. They’ll hang around the kitchen lecturing the Warriors or chat with the Mages and Rogues while sitting around the campfire. They particularly enjoy talking to the Hunters — they sense a kindred spirit — but the Hunters would rather be alone, and often politely excuse themselves, to the Priests’ disappointment. Oh well, maybe next time. The Priest will never give up!
