The Battles Continue! AGW League Guidelines and SEA Tournament Report

Hey doods! We’re currently in the online tournament stage of the Apeiron Guild Wars (AGW). The competition is really bringing their all, they’re going berserk in these battles - just like a crowd of Berserker Apostles wrestling doodfully with each other. Once the NA tournament concludes at the end of this week, we’ll be commencing with the start of the AGW League, which will run over a couple of months. In today’s article, we’ll talk about the guidelines for the coming AGW League as well as give an SEA tournament report. 

Before we dive in, a quick reminder that the NA tournament starts TOMORROW July 19th at 2pm UTC. You can catch it live on our Twitch or Twitter. They’ll be a bunch of goodies we’ll be giving away from ourselves and from our partners, so make sure to tune in! 

AGW League Guidelines

First of all, some basic info - the SEA League will begin on July 23rd, while the NA League will begin on July 30th. Every week after these will alternate between SEA and NA. So the first week will be SEA, second week NA, third week SEA, and so on until the League concludes. 

The top 3 highest MMR players from each qualifying guild are invited to participate in the AGW League, and each guild will send one player per matchday to fight against their opposing guild in a BO1 format. All 3 players from the team are required to play each week (there are three matchdays per week). 

For every match won, guilds will earn +1 point. Points at the conclusion of the League will be used to determine guild placing (per region). If a tie for 1st, 2nd, or 3rd place happens, a tiebreaker BO5 match will be held. 

In order to prepare for the league matches, there are several rules to follow:

• Guilds MUST declare the NFTs they will use at least 24 hours before matchday (Monday) 00:00 UTC. Each NFT can only be used by one player per region; this is to say that once a player uses an NFT, that NFT cannot be used by any other player in that region for the duration of the League. Failure to comply will result in a League disqualification.

• NFTs cannot be transferred out of an account from the day before matchday (Monday) 00:00 UTC to the day after matchday (Friday) 00:00 UTC. Failure to comply will result in a League disqualification.

• Players MUST join our Apeiron Tournament Discord waiting room 45 minutes before the event starts for ping tests, and join the Godiverse stage 5 minutes before the event starts. Being late to your match will result in a match loss. 

• Each player will be required to stream their video camera. Each player must have a clear camera and sufficient lighting to be able to see their face. If a player does not have a camera on matchday, that player’s guild will be given a match loss.  

• Players should have less than 200 ping on their respective region. The SEA matches will be played on the SEA server, while the NA matches will be played on the NA server, but the region can be switched if both players agree beforehand to play on a different server. In the case of a sudden extreme ping issue in the beginning of a match, the match will be remade.

• All players in the tournament are expected to be respectful and sportsmanlike. Attempts to ruin the integrity of the tournament, e.g. match fixing or bracket manipulation, as well as disturbing fellow players or being aggressive and destructive will not be tolerated. Don’t be a bood! 

Here is the schedule of matches for the SEA League. We’ll have the NA League schedule next week after the tournament is complete! FYI, matches will be Tuesday/Wednesday/Thursday at 1:00pm UTC.

SEA Tournament Report

The SEA Tournament successfully ended on July 14th! Here, we want to share some exciting moments during the tournament and make special mention of some of the outstanding players, as well as announce the winners. 

First of all, we would like to thank all the teams for their participation. We had many great teams with some awesome players who demonstrated a very high level of gameplay. GGWP everyone! 

Next, congrats to Ancient8 and METAT8 for qualifying for the live AGW Grand Finals! We can’t wait to see you guys face-to-face.

Coming in as the first seed, Ancient8 had a lot to live up to, and they certainly did so - and even exceeded expectations. They were extremely dominant in their games, going 9-0 to show their steely determination to make it to the Grand Finals. Khan from A8 was the MVP of this tournament, giving A8 to an incredible undefeated record. 

The other team to qualify for the Grand Finals is METAT8. They had a harder road to qualify, as they lost versus Daoric in what was the biggest upset of the tournament. This match was notable because the player UE from Daoric reverse-swept METAT8 from 0-2 down, an incredible comeback victory. This match earned UE the Rising Star award for this tournament.

Even though they lost this match, METAT8 showed extraordinary resilience by having an undefeated run in the losers bracket, including a rematch with Daoric in the lower bracket finals, who they defeated 3-0 thanks to an amazing performance by Xero. Xero was named the Clutch Performer of the tournament for this feat.
