Hey everyone! Season 2 is fast coming to a close — next week on Friday, July 21st! — how time flies. The competition this season has been intense, and it’s all leading up to the Apeiron Guild War S2 Prelim end of season Tournament!
The AGW S2 Prelims is our seasonal community tournament where the top 16 communities from the leaderboard will be invited to participate and send their best players to duke it out for a prize pool of over $12000 USDC in cash and a ton of rare Apeiron NFTs on top of that! But how exactly will they be duking it out? That’s what we’ll be revealing today, with all the details for the structure of the tournament matches.
Quick reminder: if you’re a community that wants to participate in the AGW, you need to register by THIS FRIDAY, July 14th. You can register your community HERE.
ALSO: we’re making a slight change to our leaderboard ranking calculations for this season. We had previously asked players to make it as far as they possibly could — and since the dungeon is infinite, this could be a pretty long way. But in the interest of maintaining a balance between skill and grind, we’re now capping the leaderboard max room count at the end of cycle 10 (Room 539). If there are multiple players who make it this far, ranking will be decided based on who can reach and clear the fastest in terms of personal run time through cycle 10. These changes apply to both individual and Guild War leaderboards.
Please note that players can still go beyond cycle 10 to hunt for high IV Apostles and max out skills, but it won’t affect the leaderboard ranking.
Alright, without further ado, let’s talk about how the Prelim Tournament will work. As mentioned previously, this will be a single-elimination tournament where communities will be paired off to compete in a special Boss Rush mode to see who can make it past the most bosses within a set period of time…or die trying.
We will release the Boss Rush mode for participating communities to test after the leaderboards end on July 21st. Teams will have a week for testing out, then the tournament will start in the first week of August. Quarterfinals and beyond will be streamed and commentated on our Twitch channel, so this is a great chance to get some exposure (and glory!) for your community.
Let’s talk details for the Boss Rush. Teams will be provided with access to a special Boss Rush build of the game to play through for this event, as well as given unique accounts to play through during the tournament to ensure a level playing field.
Each team for each community will have three players. Each of these three players will play through their own individual Boss Rush as one of the three Tempest Avatars: The Wisdom, The Fury, or The Fate. Each team must select one of each class of Avatar.
Players will have 30 minutes to beat as many bosses as they can. The player who beats more bosses than their opponent who is using the same Avatar (e.g. Fury vs Fury, Wisdom vs Wisdom, Fate vs Fate) will be declared the winner. The match victory will go to the team that wins 2 out of 3 of the Avatar head-v-heads.
In the case where a pair of players using the same Avatar has beaten the same number of bosses during the 30 minutes, there will be a brief “Overtime” period where the players will race to beat the next boss as fast as they can — the winner will be whoever does so first.
Example: Team A’s Fury player beat 4 bosses, Wisdom player beat 5 bosses, and Fate player beat just 2 bosses. Team B’s Fury player beat 3 bosses, Wisdom beat 5 bosses, and Fate player beat 3 bosses. The Wisdom players go to Overtime and Team A’s Wisdom wins, giving the match win to Team A.
After selecting their Avatar, players will see the tutorial. Skip it. Players will then enter the Boss Rush Depth 1. They will instantly be given the chance to select one of three predetermined Artifacts (listed below). Then there will be a very quick and easy battle. After finishing the battle, players will have their Avatar leveled up to 15, get 10,000 Soul Gems, and be able to choose their Apostles.
Regarding the Apostles, players will have 3 Treasure Boxes with Hunter, Mage, and Priest Apostles to choose from, and 3 Treasure Boxes with Warrior, Guardian, and Rogue Apostles. Players will be able to choose one Apostle from each box. The Apostles will have pre-set skills, which you can find a comprehensive list of below. All Apostles will be the same level (15) and have the same IVs (100). All Apostle skills will be level 1.
The next two rooms will be Shops where players can spend their Soul Gems. Shops are Potions only — no Apostles or Artifacts here. Once the player has been through the two shops, the Boss Rush will officially begin: we will ensure all connections are fine and players are ready, then the countdown will begin. From this point onwards, the pattern will be: two rooms (player’s may choose either the Campfire or Shop, then choose again), then a boss.
Bosses will drop a small amount of Soul Gems each time they are beaten, as well as XP so the player’s Avatar can continue to level up. After beating one cycle of 3 bosses (Normal, Claw of DOOM, and Dark Mystic), players will gain an additional set of 6 high IV Apostles (increasing in level as the Boss Rush goes on), as well as a choice of another Artifact. However, each new cycle of 3 bosses will also level up and become increasingly deadly!
The Artifacts that players will have access to are:
Scales of Mundi IV — Your Units +12% Critical Chance & Critical Damage
Flysilk Robes of Worship IV — Avatar Dash Recovery Time -70%
The Pentahorn IV — For each 5 Mana in your Mana pool, all units gain +15% attack speed (Max 60%)
At the beginning of the Boss Rush or after defeating one complete cycle of 3 bosses, the player will be able to select one of these Artifacts. There are no other Artifacts for the Boss Rush.
The Apostles that players will have access to are:
Treasure Box 1
Hunter: Headshot, Invoke the Spire, Root Trap Slide
Mage: Danger Disc, Fall Up, Big Ol’ Meteor Storm
Priest: Healing Wave, Circle o’ Healing, Vengeance!
Treasure Box 2
Hunter: Hawkeye, Exploding Trap, Night of the Hunt
Mage: Starfall Gambit, Magic Bomb, Mystic Flow
Priest: Cheerleading, Circle o’ Healing, Vengeance!
Treasure Box 3
Hunter: Boom Shot, Doubleshot Volley, Root Trap Slide
Mage: Spellweave Shield, Fall Up, Switcharoo
Priest: Cheerleading, Circle o’ Healing, Vengeance!
Treasure Box 4
Warrior: Spin to Win, Leaping Bonk, Ice Cold Armor
Guardian: Got Your Back, Judgement Day, Leaping Shield Bonk
Rogue: Blade Breakdancing, Can’t Touch This, Sneaky Smokescreen
Treasure Box 5
Warrior: Welcome to the SLAM, Thicc Lad, Last Dood
Guardian: Castle Guard, Baby Cage, Most Awesome Aegis
Rogue: Card Shark, Stabby Stabby!, Can’t Touch This
Treasure Box 6
Warrior: Warhammer Smash, Leaping Bonk, Flying Ax
Guardian: Got Your Back, Arm’s Length, Prickly Personality
Rogue: Killer Instinct, Stabby Stabby!, Now you see me…
At the beginning of the Boss Rush or after defeating 3 bosses, the player will be able to select one Apostle from each Treasure Box.
We’re looking forward to seeing what kind of strategies the different communities come up with to claim ultimate victory in season 2!

About Apeiron
Apeiron is the world’s first NFT-based play-and-earn god game. Apeiron will feature a unique card-based action-adventure combat system combined with god game simulation gameplay inspired by classic god games like Populous and Black & White. Players will be able to build up planets from above before descending to the ground as a powerful Avatar to solve the mysteries of the universe. Players will grow their planet to the point of developmental stagnation, then reset the planetary cycle via an Armageddon event to allow for even more advancement and thrilling late-game alliance level GvE and GvG activities. Apeiron will use a tri-token architecture, which means that there will be three separate tokens to navigate their ecosystem: a governance token, a play-to-earn token, and a premium alliance token.
